Based on Luke 24:13-35, The Walk to Emmaus is a 72-hour experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation. Centered around fifteen talks given by laity and clergy with the central theme of the Emmaus Walk is God's grace and how that grace comes alive in the Christian community, and how it expresses itself in the world.
The purpose of Emmaus is to develop leaders for the church, by presenting challenges and inspiration that will equip members for Christian action in their homes, churches, and places of work. Emmaus lifts up a way for our grace-filled lives to be lived and shared with others.
Emmaus is open to members of any Christian denomination who wish to:
develop Christian leadership skills
have a desire to strengthen their spiritual lives
have unanswered questions about their faith
understand that being a Christian involves responsibility
be willing to dedicate their everyday lives to God in an ongoing manner.
The next Great Plains Walk to Emmaus is scheduled for:
September 4-7, 2008 for the men # 62 Walk
September 18-21, 2008 for the women #63 Walk
